Weathering studies of Grosbeak crude oil

Sammendrag

A study of the weathering properties of the Grosbeak crude oil has been performed both in a small-scale laboratory and a meso-scale laboratory. The data are used as input for SINTEF's Weathering Model (OWM) to predict the fate and behaviour of Grosbeak crude oil in a spill situation at sea. Grosbeak is a waxy paraffinic crude oil with relatively low asphaltene content and very high wax content. Grosbeak has a high initial evaporative loss that leads to an increase in the relative amount of wax that may cause challenges in an oil spill situation.
