A new paper from USIGT Neuro is published in collaboration with Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. White matter tracts are brain structures the neurosurgeon must avoid during tumor resection. When the surgeon opens the skull the brain will deform, and white matter tracts imaged with MR before surgery will no longer be in the correct position in the neuronavigation system. This paper describes how 3D ultrasound can be used to correct the position of the white matter tracts and thereby improve the navigation accuracy during surgery.
