NTNU is in the science front of biopolymer research, enzymatic, chemical, and in vivo biopolymer modifications, as well as biomaterial research and microbial biotechnology. NTNU has core competence in synthetic biology, systems biology and microbiology and hosts both MS and NMR core facility, which is essential for innovative structure elucidation or analysis. NTNU has extended knowledge and experience in bioprocess engineering, including reactor design, and down-stream processing, and state-of-the-art facilities for investigating complex fluid properties, single and multiphase fluid flow, bubble size distributions, interfacial mass transfer and stepwise reactor scaleup.
NTNU has a proven track record in digital computer-aided metabolic as well as process engineering, including economic process evaluations, process design and control, reactor design, reactor scale-up, and reactor process performance optimization.
