NORCE is one of Norway's largest independent research institutes, with a wide thematic range, and is thus well equipped to deliver new knowledge and innovative solutions to address complex challenges.

NORCE has over 25 years of experience and broad expertise in bio-based sciences, along with specialised laboratories and infrastructure (National Algaepilot Mongstad and National Bioprocess and Fermentation Centre at Risavika). Key pillars within industrial biotechnology include applied microbiology, such as (gas)fermentation and microalgae cultivation, and applied molecular biology such as enzyme discovery and development. NORCE has strategic focus on developing Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) by CO2 fermentation to mobilize C1 gases as a sustainable carbon source for the production of food, feed, materials and fuel. The development of the national fermentation centre and industrial pilots is located at the NORCE facility at Risavika.
NORCE is a research partner in the project.
