Thesis: Stochastic nonlinear model predictive control of offshore hybrid power systems
I will establish the foundation for integrating alternative renewable offshore power systems such as offshore wind into existing offshore power systems using control and systems theory. This is important, because the total emission offshore accounts for approximately 25% of the total Norwegian greenhouse gas emissions. The vision is that the technology from this project will lay the foundation and facilitate increased share of renewable energy in offshore energy systems and reduce total greenhouse gas emissions. The focus of my work is on stochastic model predictive control, a technique that can be used to control the interactions between the different power systems in an
Optimal manner, even in the presence of uncertainties in for example weather predictions.
