Dr. Charles-André Gandin
Ecole des Mines de Paris, France

Charles-André Gandin (born 1967), research fellow with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), presently works at the Centre for Material Forming (CEMEF) of the Ecole des Mines de Paris (ENSMP). He received his doctorate degree in materials science from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 1994. His field of research is modelling of solidification processes, including structure, segregation and properties. He has authored and co-authored more than 80 publications. Within the last five years his publications show collaborations with colleagues in Brazil, Canada, Norway, United Kingdom, United States of America, Switzerland and France. He is active as a reviewer for several international journals as well as a coordinator and initiator of two European projects. His research was awarded by the French Society for Materials and Metallurgy (SF2M) in 2002, the Federation for European Materials Society (FEMS) in 1999 and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) in 1997.
