ISG Masterclasses at ISG World Conferences are open to PhD students who are performing a research or design project as a requirement for their Doctor degree.
NB! This page is under revision due to the transformation of the conference into a virtual concept.
The Master Class at ISG 2020 will be arranged just after the conference, on October 5-6, and venue will be at NTNU – Norwegian University of Science and Technology. (Exact location will be decided later.)
Just as in case of Master Classes in the music world, the student will get personal guidance from a (grand)master as well as comments of fellow students in the group.
The WAGT (World Academy for Gerontechnology) organizes the content of the master class with short lectures of the (grand)masters and intense discussions as to aim, methods and interpretation of results of the individual projects presented by the PhD students. The ISG World Conference organizers provides the classroom, technical teaching needs, tea, coffee and all you need to make your own lunch during the 2-days course. PhD-students will be all together in the same room for two days at a row.
To be accepted as a PhD student at the Master Class, the candidate must fill out an application form that is submitted well in advance and pay a fee of NOK 800. Final deadline for submissions is September 1, 2020.
Please send the application form to Prof. emerita Johanna E.M.H. van Bronswijk; J.E.M.H.v.Bronswijk@tue.nl . At the Master Class each student should bring a printed poster of A1 or A0 size to be used and commented on during the master class.
The students must arrange their own accommodations. Some suggestions:
- The conference venue, Clarion Hotel & Conference, which offers reasonable prices for the ISG 2020 participants
- Trondheim Vandrerhjem
- City Living Hotel and Apartments
- P-Hotels Brattøra (this is quite close to the conference hotel)
- Pensjonat Jarlen
If an application is accepted, the PhD student may apply for a travel grant at the Herman Bouma Foundation for Gerontechnology
