Decision support models

This section presents an overview of decision support tools.

A decision support tool is any methodology, method or computer model that can help planners (decision makers) to make decisions. Helping in this setting means enable better problem understanding and providing relevant, sufficient and structured information to be taken into consideration in the final decision.

Planning decisions can be made by taking into consideration -separately or all together-, criteria like: economy, efficiency, environmental impact, public opinion.

The tools provided on this page vary from economic and technical methods to more advanced multi-criteria decision making techniques.

In practice, this section provides information and links to different decision support tools that can help planers with the last two (E and F) planning tasks.
