Abstract Michael Graham
Significant progress has recently been made in understanding turbulent drag reduction by polymer additives, but a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon remains elusive. We describe our computations and theory of the effect of polymer additives on near-wall turbulent structure, in a regime where all the key aspects of drag reduction occur close together. This approach promises the possibility of a framework for a unified understanding of the phenomenon.
