CenBio's Final Report is now available

In an effort to summarize eight fruitful years of research and innovations, CenBio has compiled a number of success stories where everyone can learn about the status of stationary bioenergy in Norway.

The report especially shows highlights from three value chains: biogas, forest to wood stoves and Waste-to-Energy. Do not hesitate to take direct contact with our researchers if you have any question.

Eva Brod's PhD defence

Eva Brod has worked as a PhD student at NMBU/NIBIO on the following topic: The recycling potential of phosphorus in secondary resources. She has been partly funded by CenBio (WP1-4 - Residue upgrading and use). Professor Tore Krogstad (NMBU) has been her main supervisor, and Dr. Anne Falk Ødegaard (NIBIO), Dr. Trond Knapp Haraldsen (NIBIO) and Professor Daniel Müller (NTNU) have been her co-supervisors. Eva defended her thesis on Friday 3 June at Campus Ås.

Her trial lecture Is the predicted world's Phosphorus crises real? was presented the same day.

Sustainability of forest bioenergy: technological, climate and economic perspectives of the bioeconomy transition

Phasing off fossil fuels is mandatory to achieve ambitious climate change mitigation. Forest resources can be managed to enhance the transition to a bioeconomy.

The workshop present and discuss research in the field of technology improvements, integrated value chain analysis, climate change impacts and policy instruments for enabling a sustainable and cost-efficient bioeconomy.

  • Time: Tuesday 7 June, 13:00-16:50
  • Place: Amsterdam RAI, room G 105

The objectives of the H2020 bioenergy workshop are:

  • Facilitate initiation of new H2020 bioenergy project proposals within the new SET-Plan Governance
  • Mobilize and engage European Centers of Excellence in the establishment of new H2020 bioenergy project proposals
  • Strengthen cooperation between EERA JP Bioenergy and European Bioenergy Centers of Excellence.

The event is organised 14-15 April 2016 in Brussels.

Meet CenBio at the EUBCE!

The board and centre management of CenBio invite all partners to join us at European Biomass Conference and Exhibition on 6 – 9 June 2016. The EUBCE is the largest and most scientifically diverse bioenergy conference in Europe, and consists of both the classic scientific programme as well as a large exhibition area. We want to inform everyone about three main activities coordinated by CenBio:

  • Workshop

A side event (workshop) is scheduled for Tuesday June 7 at 13:30 to 17:00. The workshop is dedicated to "Bioenergy Value Chains", and we will present methods and results from CenBio, and open for views from experts from other European countries, as well as debate/panel discussion. We also aim at announcing the winner of the Bioenergy Innovation Award 2016 here. Please join us for an interesting afternoon in Amsterdam!

  • Exhibition stand

CenBio will be present with a stand at the Exhibition during the whole conference.

  • Scientific presentations

The competition was fierce with more than 1000 abstracts received, but 7 out of CenBio's 25 abstracts were accepted as oral presentations and 18 were accepted as posters.

You may contact Line Rydså for questions regarding CenBio's participation at the EUBCE. We hope to see many of you in Amsterdam!
