Visiting Researchers

Sabbaticals

In the academic year 2000-01, Professor Alberto Bressan from SISSA/Trieste and his wife, Dr. Wen Shen, will spend their sabbatical at NTNU:

Alberto Bressan
is one of the premier scientists in the world in the area of hyperbolic conservation laws. Recently he has solved one of the outstanding problems in the field with techniques that are currently being applied to related problems. The project will benifit greatly from Bressan's presence here.

Wen Shen
holds a PhD from the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo, on relaxation methods for hyperbolic conservation laws.

Long term visits

Frank Völker, Institute of Combustion and Gasdynamics at the Gerhard-Mercator University Duisburg, Germany
works on level-set methods for front tracking on arbitrary grid. He is visiting SINTEF Applied mathematics in the period from November 2002 to April 2003.

Short time visits

As part of the project, we also invite leading researchers for a shorter period. The list of guests so far includes:

Gui-Qiang Chen
from Northwestern University, USA is visiting University of Bergen in April 2002.

John Towers
is visiting NTNU during the period October 5-7. He is working on hyperbolic conservation laws with discontinuous flux functions. Examples of his research can be seen on our preprint server: 2000-030, 1999-024

Stefano Bianchini
from SISSA, Italy, is visiting NTNU during the period October 5-7. He is working on the stability of solutions of hyperbolic conservation laws. Examples of his research can be seen on our preprint server: 2000-038, 2000-036, 1999-037, 1999-030, 1999-004
