Start-up processes in large Construction Projects - a requirement for a happy end?

Abstract

Together with projects key performance indicators as cost and quality, time has enormous impact on success and failures of projects. Delivering projects on time is a significant challenge due to project performance and execution. Having good start-up processes at various stages/ phases of projects is a significant contributing factor to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in projects. The purpose of the paper is to provide suggestions for planning and implementing a good start-up process effectively. The paper addresses challenges of accomplish-ing a good start-up process. Start-up processes at various phases of projects are described and relevant indus-trial examples are presented.
