SafeBESS: Technology and building design for safe operation of battery energy storage systems
Fire Safety Conference 2026 in Trondheim
Safety, governance and responsibility
Building resilience through leadership, governance and accountability.
The goal is to provide knowledge on how fire safety can become a strategic strength for organisations and society:
- How authorities, management and organisations can protect critical functions
- Fire safety as a natural part of risk and emergency management
- Learning from experiences, investigations and system failures
Research, knowledge and documentation
From insight to decision-making – document and explain the value of safety.
Discover new knowledge that makes us better equipped to understand and reduce risk:
- What the latest research reveals about how to safely and robustly meet rapid technological developments
- Methods for documenting safety and societal benefits
- Structured decision support and interdisciplinary processes
Energy systems, technology and infrastructure
Securing critical functions in a technologically advanced and energy-intensive society.
Explore how new technology and infrastructure affect risk and safety:
- Fire safety in data centres, energy storage, and other critical facilities
- International and national lessons learned from incidents and case studies
- New standards and solutions for safe operations and continuous availability
SafeBESS at the conference
SafeBESS was well represented at the conference, both through presentations and participation from several of the partners. From SINTEF, Fride Vullum-Bruer, Brynhild Garberg Olsø and Anne-Marit Haukø attended. Fride and Brynhild presented results from SafeBESS, while Anne-Marit presented results from another project focusing on fire properties of insulation materials used in buildings. In addition, professor Anne Elise Steen Hansen from NTNU attended the conference.
