Biomass and biomaterials
SINTEF has many activities related to processing and utilization of marine- and land-based biomass. Research on land-based biomass mainly focus on the use of residues from agriculture and forestry as raw materials for production of bio-based chemicals, materials and energy. Research on marine biomass also include isolation of valuable products, including biopolymers, that are used to design functional biomaterials for industrial and biomedical applications.
