High Throughput laboratory - Oslo
The High Throughput laboratory can be divided in three main activates: 1) design and construction of high-throughput equipment, 2) parallel synthesis of materials, and 3) parallel screening of materials properties. We provide automated custom made high precisions equipment for a wide range of applications. Development and application of combinatorial and parallel approaches are used to accelerate the research and development of a large number of industrially relevant processes.
Laboratory for screening of catalysts and adsorbents
SINTEF has a large number of various reactors for screening of catalysts and adsorbents. SINTEF has knowledge and experience in designing and building laboratory reactors for a range of industrial processes.
Environmental and biochemical analysis
SINTEF Ocean offers chemical analysis of emerging and priority pollutants, petroleum products and biomolecules. With our advanced analytical platform, we tailor analytical solutions to each project. We co-operate closely with laboratories across SINTEF to offer advanced analysis for any research need.
REALISE – Demonstrating a Refinery-Adapted Cluster-Integrated Strategy to Enable Full-Chain CCUS Implementation
REALISE will develop carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) strategies for oil refineries-centered industrial clusters and demonstrate in a pilot scale an absorption technology based on novel solvent for cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable CO2 capture from multiple flue gas sources.
DIFI-PRO: Distributed fibre optic sensing for production optimization
The down-hole measurement of fluid flow is key to enabling operators to optimize production, improve reservoir management and maximise field recovery.
Norwegian P&A Laboratories
The Norwegian P&A Laboratories project will set up a full-range lab facilities for safe and cost-efficient plugging and abandonment of wells. The institutions SINTEF (project owner), NORCE, NTNU and UiS, together organised as Norwegian P&A Laboratories, will design and install the enhanced facilities over the period 2020-2023.

The Board of the Research Council of Norway decided on June 11 to grant SFI Swipa (Subsurface Well Integrity, Plugging and Abandonment) status as Center for Research-Driven Innovation for the next eight years.

Electrophoresis to improve well construction?
Well construction in oil & gas and geothermal industries becomes increasingly complex and costly as the target depths increase. New ways to reduce costs and improve safety are therefore actively researched. Electrophoresis , a physicochemical effect known from the early 1800s, may help in reducing costs in drilling and well construction. In particular, it may facilitate cleaning of the equipment. It also may reduce energy consumption when drilling fluid and cement are pumped into the well.
