Solar power plants do however require vast areas of land that are difficult to find near densely populated places where power is consumed.

Floating PV (FPV) installations have opened up new opportunities and the FPV market has experienced an exponential growth in the last 7 years. Several Norwegian companies have developed interesting concepts for FPV, and the solar industry in Norway have worked to establish national piloting centres to test and demonstrate the installations.

The Norwegian research community has moved to support such an establishment, and to expand a industrial piloting sites into extensively instrumented research and technology development installations. Two industry workshops have provided input to an application national funding of a large-scale test and research infrastructure.

With this webinar, the research institutions wish to present the final application to the Norwegian Research Council, the instrumentation planned and the opportunities we hope this will offer to the industry.
