DESCRIPTION:A key challenge in university-industry collaborations is the p
 artners’ multiple and potentially conflicting goals. This multiplicity of
  goals can in worst case hamper the collaboration\, because the establish
 ment of goals often determines which actions are undertaken. Firms and un
 iversity partners may disagree on the course of actions to achieve these 
 various goals. Therefore\, the collaborative partners need to find a way 
 to manage these different and potentially conflicting goals. This present
 ation will focus on how multiple goals in research centers can be managed
  to ensure attainment of mutually beneficial outcomes for the partners in
 volved\, at various levels of the collaboration. The presentation is base
 d on qualitative interviews with firm and university partners in FME cent
 ers\, including FME HighEFF.
