Demonstrating technology for better air traffic management
In recent years the air traffic delays in Europe has increased quite a lot, and last summer we experienced many delayed flights resulting…
Diving deep into quantum computing
At SINTEF we just started a strategic project to investigate the possibilities and application areas of quantum computing. We arranged a kick-off in…
3D-PIEZO – Lead-free piezoelectric devices by additive manufacturing (3D printing and multilayer)
The 3D-PIEZO project aims to develop a manufacturing chain for 3D printing and multilayer lamination of piezoelectric elements for ultrasonics and other applications. The project will apply lead-free (Pb-free) high performance piezoelectric ceramic materials. SINTEF is working closely with two small companies: Ceramic Powder Technology AS, a Norwegian producer of advanced ceramic oxide powders, and Cerhum S.A., a Belgian specialist in 3D printing of ceramics
UnWarp: Understanding warping corrugated board with machine learning
Warped cardboard is a major quality issue in the production of corrugated cardboard. It reduces the productivity in the converting units, causes reduced quality on the final product, and increases waste. In UnWarp we are using machine learning to understand when the cardboard becomes warped in and provide guidelines for minimising the warp.
Clean air is a basic necessity for human existence. Poor air quality has accounted for over 4.2 million deaths globally in 2016. As such, there is a need for highly sensitive gas sensors which can be integrated into an early detection system, should air quality fall below predefined thresholds.
