Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for transport

Big data consists of advanced techniques that harness independent resources for building scalable data systems when the characteristics of the datasets require new architectures for efficient storage, manipulation, and analysis. (According to N. B. D. W. Group, Nist big data de nitions and taxonomies (August 2013)).

Transport, be it goods or people, generates a lot of data. This data can be used to identify traffic patterns and based on that suggest "smarter" use of transport networks.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence exhibited by machines.
We apply AI approaches for building recommender systems and enabling decision support. With AI-enhanced applications and services, we enable users to be better informed, to take better decisions and to make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter' use of technology and transport networks. In brief, Big Data and big data sets are accelerating improvements within AI and Machine Learning.
