Inga Gudem Ringdalen

Research Manager

Research manager of the research group Materials Physics Trondheim in SINTEF. We connect materials processing to final properties through fundamental materials physics understanding using advanced characterization and modelling.

2021 - Now : Researcher manager – Material physics Trondheim, SINTEF Industry
2013 - 2021: Researcher – Material Physics Trondheim, SINTEF Industry
2012 - 2013: Engineer – Offshore floating structures, DNV

Education

2009 - 2012: Ph.D. in Structural Integrity, topic Multiscale Modelling of Fracture, NTNU, Norway.
2004 - 2009: Master - Applied Mechanics, Department of Engineering Design and Materials, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, NTNU, Norway
2007 : Study abroad program, University of Auckland, New Zealand

Competence and research areas

In addition to management, I enjoy multiscale materials modeling from electronic to meso-scale. Dislocations, solutes, grain boundaries are cool and precipitates are beautiful!

Applications: Alumuinium alloys. Metals. Semiconductors. Plasticity and dislocation theory. Transport properties. Microstructure development. Fracture mechanics.
Methods: Atomic and electronic scale modelling of solid materials (VASP, LAMMPS, Kinetic Monte Carlo). Multiscale modeling.
