CAGD - Computer Aided Geometric Design
Although the origin of CAGD was use of geometry in engineering, CAGD is now used in a wide range of applications such as:
- CAD/CAM
- Medicine
- Games
- Animation
- Commercials
- Geology
- Virtual reality
CAGD is focusing on the representation, processing and interrogation of geometric entities. This opposed to computer graphics that is concerned with the presentation of geometries. However, computer graphics is an important tool for CAGD, as the presentation of geometric objects is important in most uses of CAGD.
