It is our pleasure to welcome you to the ROOMVENT 2011 Conference in Trondheim, Norway, the leading event in the area of air distribution in rooms. Energy use in buildings represents a large part of the global energy consumption and contributes significantly to the greenhouse effect. Measures to improve energy performances are thus essential in order to face the climatic challenge and reduce the environmental burden on earth. To meet this problem, energy efficient ventilation and climatization is of the outmost importance.
The Scandinavian Federation of Heating, Ventilating and Sanitary Engineering Associations - SCANVAC, in which Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden participate, initiated the series of ROOMVENT conferences. The ROOMVENT conferences have been held in Stockholm, Sweden (1987), Oslo, Norway (1990), Aalborg, Denmark (1992), Krakow, Poland (1994), Yokohama, Japan (1996), Stockholm, Sweden (1998), Reading, United Kingdom (2000), Copenhagen, Denmark (2002), Coimbra, Portugal (2004), Helsinki, Finland (2007) and Busan, South Korea (2009).
This will be the 12th ROOMVENT Conference which will focus on new technology and ventilations strategies for low energy, passive houses and zero emission buildings as well as energy efficient ventilation in the built environment as such. Modeling and visualization will be an important theme including strategies for natural, hybrid and mechanical ventilation. Furthermore, transport and spread of airborne infections will be an important issue.
The ROOMVENT 2011 Conference will offer scientists and academics, business professionals like consultants, engineers and architects together with policymakers, a platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge and technical solutions. The conference will also provide the opportunity to view the state-of-the-art technologies, to interact with others and to work together for the benefit of the indoor environment and energy performance of buildings.
