EU FP7, Byefouling - Low-toxic cost-efficient environment-friendly antifouling materials

Chalmers University of Technology
Chalmers University of Technology is located in Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden and was established in 1829.

Chalmers has developed leading research in the areas of life sciences, materials science, information technology, micro-and nanotechnology, environmental sciences and energy. In 2011 the university had about 11000 students and out of these 7500 were Master's program students and PhD students. There are approximately 2500 full time employees working as researchers, technicians and administrators. Chalmers' annual turnover is about 350 M€, out of which 69 % are related to research. For BYEFOULING Chalmers participates with staff from the Division of Fluid Dynamics at the Department of Applied Mechanics.

The Division of Fluid Dynamics at Chalmers is providing its state-of-the-art fluid dynamics facilities equipped with high-end measuring equipment and cluster resources for computations. Chalmers role in BYEFOULING is, within WP6, to establish reliable methods for evaluation of drag resistance of vessel hull coatings by using computational and laboratory methods and to develop reliable scaling-up methodologies for the frictional resistance of the full-scale vessels.
