11th International Summer School on Aluminium Alloy Technology

Trondheim, Norway 20-24 June 2011

Thermo - Mechanical Processing & Forming

The aim of the school is to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the art in aluminium alloy technology. The lectures will focus on the basic metallurgy and mechanics controlling the evolution of microstructure and properties during industrial processing. The school is designed for:

  •  Personnel working in commercial aluminium production plants, rolling mills and extrusion plants as well as industrial R&D centres.
  • Personnel involved in manufacturing, product development and design.
  • Graduate students and university scientists who are specialising in materials and who want to broaden their background in aluminium alloy technology.

Main topics

•    Solidification and homogenisation
•    Thermo-mechanical processing and its physical metallurgy
•    Crystal plasticity
•    Microstructure characterisation and modelling
•    Heat treatable alloys and age hardening
•    Weldability modelling
•    Forming and fracture
•    Severe plastic deformation
•    Surface & corrosion
