Society safety and security
Society safety and security is concerned with the society’s ability to uphold important society functions the citizen’s life, health and fundamental needs during different impacts.
The area is dealing with risk and vulnerability on the societal level. It can be areas which are critical for parts of the society and problems are so complex and involve different organisations, authorities and different countries. SINTEFs core competence regarding society safety and security is closely linked to the challenges between different stakeholders and challenges that include human, technological and organizational aspects. The demand for system understanding and methodological knowledge combined with high end knowledge in technical areas. Our perspective is that both analyses and processes are needed to create good society safety and security. The SINTEF group work with wide spectres of areas that are dealing with critical resources (oil, fishery and health), critical infrastructure like water and drain, Information and Communication Technology, energy supply, transportation or immaterial values that are irreplaceable. With our methodological and process knowledge we can link up to specialised disciplines in SINTEF and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
