Reliability of safety critical systems
Today's industy and society is more vulnerable than before. Failure in a system can cause problems for enterprises or paralyse crucial society functions. Major gains may be achieved through preventing failure by means of good planning.
For more than ten years SINTEF have been engaged in developing theory, methods and tools for design, validation, operation and evaluation of computer aided control and safety systems applied in the process industry.
Main projects within this area have been the PDS1) projects.
The main delivery from these projects is the PDS Method and the PDS Handbook.
PDS forum is a continuance of the PDS projects. It is a forum organised by SINTEF for exchange of experience between norwegian suppliers, consultants and users of Control and Safety Systems.
1)PDS is a Norwegian abbreviation for Reliability of computerised safety systems (Pålitelighet av Datamaskinbaserte Sikkerhetssystemer)
