ICT, security and organisation
Society's increasing dependence on ICT means that accidental or deliberate damage to information systems is a growing source of vulnerability. Businesses, public administration, and private individuals can exploit technology to increase productivity and improve quality of life only if they are provided with secure and robust computer systems and networks.
Information security involves ensuring that information is only available to those who are authorized to see it (confidentiality), that the accuracy of data is maintained (integrity), and that IT systems and other facilities are present and usable when they are needed (availability).
SINTEF is working in the field of applied information security. Example projects include threat assessment, risk analysis, and security in organizations, in mobile systems, and in health care systems.
