SINTEF has a frame agreement with the Mid-Norway Health Region that recognises the Clinical Research Section (SKF) in SINTEF, Department of Medical Technology as the preferred partner for all health authorities in the region.

SKF's principal project owner is Unimed Innovation AS, which was established as a separate limited company, 100% owned by the Research Foundation at St. Olav's Hospital in January 2007. The company administers research projects in St. Olav's Hospital, the hospitals in Levanger and Namsos and certain other hospitals, and is the legal signatory to contracts with industry on behalf of these hospitals.

The board of Unimed Innovation AS has given SKF the responsibility for day-to-day follow-up. Else Thurmann-Nielsen, head of section, has also been engaged as general manager of Unimed Innovation AS.

Through our activity in Unimed Innovation AS we offer services that relieve the burden on health services personnel and industry when new medicines and medical technology are being trialled in hospitals. We ensure that projects are performed professionally and correctly in accordance with the contract.

Through our activity in SKF, we can also offer our expertise as an independent party for project sponsors who require such services.
