The pressure modelling software Pressim simulates and quantifies the buildup and dissipation of pressure in fault-bounded compartments through time. It is based on the concept that fluid pressure is generated by mechanical and chemical sediment compaction and dissipated by lateral and vertical fluid flow, both processes being controlled by cross-fault transmissibilities.
