New President at SINTEF Energy Research
Research Director Inge R. Gran (43) has been appointed President at SINTEF Energy Research and took up his post on 1 January.
Gran has been employed at SINTEF Energy Research since 1996. He received his qualifications as a civil engineer in 1990 from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the former Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH), where he went on to complete his Ph.D. in 1994. He then worked for two years at Sandia National Laboratories in California, funded by a grant from the Research Council of Norway, before returning home to start in Trondheim.
In 1999, Gran was appointed Research Director at the Department of Thermal Energy, and assumed responsibility for a major part of the institute’s mechanical engineering activities following a departmental merger four years later. During the last year, Gran has also been Research Director at the Electrical Power Engineering Department, and is thus familiar with the greater part of the organisation.
“I’m looking forward to my new role, where I will have even greater opportunities to make a positive contribution”, says Gran. “Not least in connection with our major and long-term projects where we will be able to draw on the broad scope of technical resources available to us at SINTEF”.
Inge Gran will replace Sverre Aam who is moving to an advisory post.
