During the first part of the project status of long term water tree ageing of XLPE cables will be reviewed. Afterwards decitions will be taken about what tests to be included. Variants of test methods must be included in such a way that the results can be evaluated with a certain high confidence. Number of cables to be included in the tests will be decided upon.
 
Afterwards series of practical ageing tests will be done in the laboratories of SINTEF Energy Research. These tests shall give the basis for a 80% reduction of the test duration. This reduction is to be introduced without introduction of new not-service related ageing phenomena. The results will be presented and discussed with international partners, for instance during CENELEC standardization meetings. As a late part of the project the results will be presented at an international conference.
