End-user flexibility

- by efficient use of ICT

The project was accomplished from 2001 - 2004.

The objective of the project is to increase the end-user flexibility in periods with scarcity of electrical energy and power by:

  • Establishing a decision basis and suggest external conditions for a prioritised building of an infrastructure based on ICT-solutions for the future.
  • Develop, test and evaluate different initiatives with basis in network tariff, power prices and other market solutions, based on ICT, which stimulates to flexibility in consumption.

In the project technology for two-way communication (Automatic meter reading and remote load control) were installed at more thant 10.000 end-use customers, mainly household customers. About 50% had installed technology for remote load control.

A flexibility in electricity consumption of 0,2 - 1,0 kWh/h for household customers were found through a large-scale pilot test with remote load control, new network tariffs and power contracts .
