  • Senior scientist Åge Larsen is coordinator for the new EU-funded project "NanoBarrier" which starts in March 2012. One topic will be to utilise microcellular cellulose as barrier material in food packaging.
  • Researchers from SINTEF gave five presentations at the EUROTEC2011 conference in Barcelona. See publication list.
  • A new project on paint systems for replacing chrome plating started in August 2011.The objective is to develop paint systems and painting processes to replace or complement chrome plating of plastic parts for car exteriors, with demanding requirements in terms of adhesion. The project aims at developing paint systems offering a "design palette" in terms of visual effects. Furthermore, the new paints must be more eco-friendly and less expensive than chrome plating processes. Partners: Plastal, Beckers, Volvo and SINTEF.
  • Hamid Daiyan defended his PhD thesis " Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Mechanical Response of Injection Moulded Polypropylene Materials" at the University of Oslo in June 2011. The work was carried out at SINTEF in Oslo, and Hamid now has a permanent position at NORUT in Narvik. More info.
  • Terje R. Tofteberg defended his PhD thesis "Injection molding of microfeatured polymer components" at the University of Oslo in april 2010. The work was carried out at SINTEF in Oslo, and Terje now has a permanent position at SINTEF. More info.
