Process metallurgy and Particle Processing
The main focus of the Process Metallurgy and Particle Processing research team is sustainable development of new and established processes and materials. We perform experimental and theoretical research and development along the value chain from mineral/particle processing and materials characterisation to high temperature production, smelting and refining. Our competence spans a wide spectrum from thermodynamic modelling and data development, via small and pilot scale laboratory experiments in our own unique laboratories, to full scale process innovation in collaboration with our customers. Our clients include the ferroalloys industry, the light metals industry (Aluminium and Magnesium), the PV (photo voltaic) industry and the iron- and steel industry.

The research team works both in competence building and strategic national research programmes, as well as in direct research contracts with Norwegian and international industry. We are also active in a number of EU financed research projects.
