Operational and continous releases

Eksempel på en multikilde DREAM anvendelse.

SINTEF operates a series of numerical models for simulation of fates of regular discharges from offshore operations to sea. These include:

  • Discharges of produced water (program DREAM)
  • Discharges of drill cuttings and mud (program ParTrack)

Program DREAM
The program DREAM is supported by the oil companies (Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Total, Agip, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Shell and Petrobras) through the JIP projects DREAM (completed) and ERMS (to be completed in 2005)

  • Is fully three-dimensional and includes time variability
  • Utilizes three dimensional ocean current fields computed by external hydrodynamic models
  • Calculates the fates of chemicals in produced water discharged into the sea
  • Is able to calculate for multiple sources and for multiple compounds in the discharges
  • Includes utilities to calculate environmental risks (EIF)
  • Includes utilities to calculate exposure and uptake/depuration (doses) on marine biota (active or passive)

Program ParTrack
The program ParTrack is supported by the oil companies (Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Total, Agip, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Shell and Petrobras) through the ERMS JIP project.

  • Is fully three-dimensional and includes time variability
  • Utilizes three dimensional ocean current fields computed by external hydrodynamic models
  • Calculates the fates of drilling chemicals and other chemicals applied by the oil industry
  • Calculates deposition of cuttings and mud compounds on the sea floor
  • Includes utilities to calculate impacts (and EIF's) for the sediment layer
