MARINTEK will perform verification measurements of sulphur and particulate matter emissions on Wilh. Wilhelmsen owned RoRo vessel after installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS).
Wärtsilä Hamworthy has entered into agreement with Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA to install the world's largest multi-stream scrubber on one of their RoRo vessels. The system will reduce sulphur and particulate matter emissions from the exhaust gases of the vessel's main and auxiliary engines. The installation of the Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS) will prepare the vessel for the upcoming sulphur emissions regulation entering into force from January 2015, as an alternative to burn fuel with a sulphur content of 0.1 % when operating within Emission Control Areas (ECA). Using a multi-stream scrubber to clean exhaust gases will enable operation in ECA without having to use expensive distillate fuels to remain compliant with the regulations.
MARINTEK participates to the project and will perform third party verification measurements of SOX and particulate matter.
