  Department of Offshore Hydrodynamics

  The department has since the opening of the Ocean Basin in 1980 serviced both Norwegian and international offshore industry. Our stable and highly skilled staff has in the more than 30 years since the opening gained invaluable expertise, and have in addition to complex laboratory operations developed methods and software programs to meet the needs of increasingly demanding offshore and marine operations. As the international focus is changing, we are also involved in research and development of renewable energy sources.

  The department specialises in development of advanced methods and computational tools for structural analysis, design and operation of marine structures. Our main market is the oil and gas industry, with subsea (offshore pipelines) and floating production systems (risers, umbilicals and power cables) as our main application areas.
