CRESCENDO

CRESCENDO programme aims at enlarging the networks with Associated Countries, analysing the evolution of threats and risk assessment, policies and regulations, innovation process, defining R&D roadmaps and providing recommendations for future programmes.
CRESCENDO started in July 2009 and will run for 24 months.

SINTEF ICT activities as a subtask leader are:

WP5.3 Ways to improve the links between the academic sector and industries, SMEs and the service sector (leader SINTEF)

As for all sectors, a key factor in an efficient innovation process is the possibility to create “short links” between the research world, industry/SMEs and customers. The networks will allow creating tight and fruitful relationships between the academic sector, SMEs and industry all over Europe.
The workshops will allow identification of current limitations and gaps to overcome in order to create an early awareness process and a European “marketplace” for innovation. Possible approaches include experiences of INNORISK-project (www.vtt.fi/innorisk), and are based on intensification of innovation processes to shorten the time from identified demand and innovation to market.
We could also take advantages of existing industrial clusters dealing with Security purposes and that have a policy for integrating SMEs (e.g. Medicen, System@tic in France, Innovation Clusters in Czech Republic)
