Other Applications
SINTEF has had a number of applications of 3D shape measurement systems that do not fit into the categories above.

Some of these include:

  • 3D digitization of petroglyphs
  • 3D vision guided navigation of surgical instruments during non-invasive surgery
If you are interested in more information about other applications and how SINTEF can help you, please contact Øystein Skotheim .

Measurements on rock carvings with structured light
The illustration shows how 3D images of ancient rock carvings can be acquired with structured light.

Markerless registration with structured light
The image shows a patient with a projected structured light pattern. The combination of in-situ measurements of patient anatomy and pre-operative data (e.g. magnetic resonance or X-ray images) can be used to navigate surgical instruments inside the body.
