Evaluation of human language technologies
Evaluation is an important area of language technology, both to foster progress and to understand better what is at stage. The natural language technologies group has had several activities in evaluation.
- Organization of the first evaluation contest for morphological analysis of Portuguese, Morfolimpíadas
- Participation in the organization of CLEF (QAatCLEF and GeoCLEF)
- Organization of HAREM, an evaluation contest for named entity recognition in Portuguese
- Organization of GikiP, an evaluation contest for answering list questions in Wiklipedia, in German English and Portuguese
