There are four main RTD challenges in EDGE:
- efficient optimization methods for large-scale Vehicle Routing Problems up to several hundred thousand delivery or pickup points
- combined automatic and manual methods for order aggregation and problem decomposition in routing applications where a large share of all households must be serviced
- user-friendly and effective user interfaces for advanced route planning and fleet management functionality, also suitable for thin clients and web interaction
- efficient acquisition of time and distance information where electronic GIS information of sufficient quality and detail is not available
The EDGE research partners Agora Innoroad Lab and SINTEF meet these challenges, in close collaboration with the industrial partners.
