CadTrawl is a program system for the design of trawls.
The CadTrawl system is a trawl design/drawing system which was developed in the fishing gear department of the former DIFTA, the Danish Institute for Fisheries Technology and Aquaculture. SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture took over the rights to the software when they took over the operation of the flume tank at the North SeaCentre in Hirtshals. The development and marketting of the CadTrawl system will be continued by SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture

In the design phase the designer can view the current shape of the trawl as the trawl is drawn to scale on the screen so that modifications of the shape immediately become visible.

The hard copy of the finished trawl specification will be made on a Laser printer or an A3 plotter. The completed drawing is easily read and contains all the necessary details for construction in the workshop. Alternatively a copy with few or no details can be made for publicity or quotation purposes.

Much emphasis has been placed on developing a program which is as close to commercial net-making traditions as possible and the normal technical terms are used in the communication between the designer and the program.

The program runs on an ordinary IBM-compatible Personal Computer and requires only 6 MB free space on the hard disk and a Windows 95/98 environment.
