The report Fire safety level in nursing homes for elderly people has been published on the internet (see Open R&D reports in SINTEF NBL home page to read the report in Norwegian).

The project was funded by the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) in 2009, and includes a statistical analysis of fires as well as of fires in nursing homes, a description of ”eldrebølgen” (the growing number of elderly) and expected need for care, and an evaluation of how amendment of regulations have affected the fire safety level.  Methods for quantification of fire safety and a few approaches to the problem of fire safety in nursing homes for elderly people are also addressed.
