INNO-Drill – Technology platform for research-based innovations in deep geothermal drilling
The main goal of INNO-Drill project is to extend, demonstrate, and make available a research-based technology platform to enable new and significantly more cost effective drilling tools and systems for deep geothermal wells in hard rock formations.
Descramble – logging tool
As partner in the ongoing Horizon 2020 project, SINTEF ICT is developing a High Temperature logging tool for measuring pressure and temperature in super critical geothermal wells.
The main focus of the eControl System is to provide automation and control of the drilling machines by real time assistance of advanced modeling of the downhole drilling process. The Integrated Drilling Simulator (IDS) is a central part of the eControl System. The eControl System is designed to be a stand-alone system independent of rig control system and available interfaces.
The main focus of the eDrilling System is to provide real time supervision and decision support during drilling. It enables decision makers to have better insight into the status of the well and thus make better and quicker decisions. The eDrilling System is now being commercialized by the company eDrilling Solutions, partly owned by SINTEF Petroleum Research.
FORmation MEchanics Logging - FORMEL
The software uses input from wireline logs (acoustic velocities, density, porosity ++) to simulate standard rock mechanical strength tests on cores. The output is full stress-strain curves for a single depth or logs of rock strength parameters and stiffness versus depth.
Integrated Drilling Simulator (IDS)
The Integrated Drilling Simulator (IDS) is the heart of both the eDrilling System and the eControl System. IDS is a synthesis of multiple transient and steady state coupled models for the drilling sub-processes. It simulates interactions between the various sub-processes. At present the IDS consists of a dynamic flow and temperature model, a torque and drag model, a rate of penetration (ROP) model, a wellbore stability model, and a pore pressure model.
SINTEF Petroleum Research has been awarded a frame agreement from Statoil for the delivery of a training simulator for use in drilling and well subject areas. The delivery shall include the simulator, simulator software, services, facilities, functions, and personnel/resources required to conduct drilling simulator training. SINTEF Petroleum Research has appointed eDrilling Solutions and Oiltec Solutions as subcontractors to the frame agreement.
