Integral system analysis

Integral system analysis is a robust tool for evaluating the feasibility of technologies and their integration in value-chains under industrial environments.

Integral system analysis can be applied to all Technology Readiness Levels (TRL).

It supports the development of new concepts and pilot plants as well as assists to identify improvements in the design and operation of present commercial technologies. Ultimately, integral system analysis helps to select cost-effective technologies for integration in value chains in order to meet societal needs and market-driven prices.

We work within these areas:

  • Production of heat and power from biomass and waste
  • Production of liquid biofuels via Gasification and Fischer-Tropsch
  • Thermal pretreatment of forest biomass and wet organic waste
  • Production and utilization of biocarbon
  • Hydrothermal conversion of wet biomass to heat, power and liquid biofuels

Methods

The Integral System Analysis methodology (see figure below) is multidisciplinary, combining process modelling, equipment engineering and design, operation and maintenance, reliable costing, risks and economic viability.
