We offer leading expertise in geometry, optimization, simulation, and visualization methods. Our funding is through contracts with industry, the public sector, the European Union, and the Research Council of Norway.
The goal of the SmartPower project is to demonstrate the usefulness of modern optimisation methods for demand respons applications in energy market. To this end, we develop a prototype for optimised Power Matching/load balancing in large scale Smart Grids, a highly complex optimisation problem.

New optimisation models and solution algorithms are needed to develop systems and services for intermodal personal itinerary planning and vehicle routing that handle dynamics effectively and efficiently.
OSASMOD - Modeling of obstructive sleep apnea by fluid-structure interaction in the upper airways
Snoring is in some cases so serious that it can be classified as a health issue. The most severe form, obstructive sleep apnea is responsible for reduced life quality and increased mortality in the modern society. Research scientists at SINTEF Materials and Chemistry are currently developing mathematical models that can aid in improving the treatment options for those affected by such breathing disorders.

Numerical CO2 Laboratory
The open-source "Numerical CO2 Laboratory" offers a flexible research and educational platform for modeling and simulation of geological storage of carbon dioxide. The laboratory offers a large set of tools that simplify the development and implementation of new models and computational methods, but also contains several simulation and workflow tools that provide reliable modeling of real storage operations and enable interactive experimentation with public data sets (including the CO2 Storage Atlas of the Norwegian North Sea).
