The term 'hydrothermal energy system' refers here to SINTEF's expertise in, and the data models SINTEF uses to analyse, hydrothermal power systems.

The models are used for a variety of different analyses, including:

  • Various types of impact analyses

SINTEF carries out research and development into, and offers for sale, data models that can be applied in connection with the analyses listed above. We can also carry out client-specific analyses for market players. Typically, the models are used to carry out analyses on time scales ranging from weeks to several years.

SINTEF carries out R&D activities linked to models that are used to analyse hydrothermal power systems.

In terms of R&D, we work primarily with the development, implementation and testing of innovative methods and algorithms that are better than current computational approaches at calculating the performance characteristics of the hydrothermal power system. SINTEF also carries out assignments of a more advisory nature with the aim of assisting users to utilise our models more effectively. We also act as consultants in connection with other projects in which we transfer our expertise in hydrothermal power systems to the user.
