NCS C+ Webinar: The cost and role of Direct Air Capture (DAC) in achieving the climate targets

This extended webinar will gather a range of experts within the direct air capture and carbon dioxide for a discussion on the cost of DAC and its role in achieving our climate targets.

Removing CO2 from the atmosphere is expected to play a significant role in reaching net-zero and compensating a potential overshoot in our remaining carbon budget to achieve the Paris Agreement.

While many have suggested that the cost of DAC could fall below 100 $/t, a recent study from ETH Zurich (Sievert et al., 2024) suggests that these costs are likely to stay above, at least, 200 $/t even when reaching the gigaton scale. This study has sparked much debate in the direct air capture, carbon dioxide removal, and emission mitigation communities.

NCS C+ thus take the opportunity of this study to gather experts in the direct air capture and carbon dioxide removal landscape, investment analysts, policy analysts, etc. to take an updated discussion on both the costs of DAC and its role in achieving the climate targets.
