From hydropower inroads until today there has been a significant development in the analysis of impacts of hydropower development.
SINTEF has for decades participated in this development through research and are constantly seeking answers to new challenges in connection with hydropower and - upgrading. SINTEF also looks at link of hydropower production towards other renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.
SINTEF has since 2007 led the Centre for Environmental Design of Renewable Energy (CEDREN) in close cooperation with NINA and NTNU as partners and with large parts of the Norwegian power industry as contributors. The center works with a wide field of research in environmental design of renewable energy.
