Poor water quality, water stress and environmental problems pose a threat to development and welfare in many regions. We all depend on water for drinking and food production. There is an increasing focus on water resource management, improving water infrastructure and water treatment.
SINTEF has laboratories for testing of all sanitary products. We provide information for consumers, insurance companies, the building industry and the authorities. We work continuously to influence society to choose solutions that are not subject to water damage.
The objective of SUWAM (Sustainable water management for resilience to climate change impact on society in South Africa) is enhancing resilience to climate change on society with focus on impacts in the water sector.
DESSIN demonstrates and promotes innovative solutions for water scarcity and water quality / the implementation of the Water Framework directive (WFD) and shows the value of those solutions for the water sector and society by also demonstrating a methodology for the valuation of ecosystem services (ESS) as catalyser for innovation.

Norway establishes new climate adaptation centre
The Research Council of Norway has announced the establishment of 17 new centers for research-based innovation (SFI). Klima 2050 is one of these, and Norway finally gets a Centre for climate adaptation of the built environment. The official start-up of the Centre takes place on April the 13th in Trondheim.
